Hollywood vs Brazilian: what’s the difference?

A Hollywood wax removes all hair from the pubic area, including the front, labia and between the cheeks, for a completely smooth finish. A Brazilian wax removes most hair underneath and behind but leaves a small strip or triangle on top. If you are unsure which style to book, your therapist can help you choose at the start of your appointment.

Bikini means a tidy outside the knicker line. Extended Bikini goes deeper into the line. Brazilian leaves a neat strip or triangle and removes hair underneath. Hollywood removes all hair, front to back.

Before your appointment: how to prepare

Good preparation makes a Hollywood wax smoother, more effective and more comfortable. The most important point is hair length. The wax needs enough hair to grip properly, especially if you have shaved recently.

• Grow hair to around 6 to 12 mm before your appointment.
• Wait at least two and a half weeks after shaving before booking.
• Gently exfoliate in the week before your wax.
• Stop exfoliating 24 hours before your appointment.
• Avoid heavy lotions, fake tan, sunbeds and intense heat on the day.
• Skip caffeine for a few hours beforehand if you know it makes you more sensitive.
• Book a trial wax four weeks before a holiday or important event.

Planning around a holiday, wedding or special occasion? A trial wax four weeks ahead is sensible, especially if it is your first intimate wax. Then book your event wax one to two days before you want the smoothest finish.

Hygiene and comfort

Please shower before your appointment, or arrange a quick shower on arrival if needed. Bring a clean change of underwear if you are not going straight home afterwards.

You will complete a short consultation before your wax. Tell us about medication, pregnancy, recent peels, recent laser, active irritation, skin conditions or anything that may affect your treatment. This allows your therapist to adapt the appointment safely and professionally.

Queen B uses fresh disposable spatulas and does not double-dip. The treatment is carried out with professional products, controlled technique and proper hygiene from start to finish.

What to expect during your Hollywood wax

Your therapist will cleanse the skin, apply protective pre-oil and work in small sections using Perron Rigot hot wax for delicate areas. High-performance strip wax may be used where appropriate. The therapist will support the skin, use clear breathing cues and keep each removal quick to minimise discomfort.

For intimate waxing, accuracy matters. Your therapist may ask you to adjust position during the treatment so the skin can be kept taut and the wax can be removed cleanly. The approach is professional, respectful and focused on giving you a smooth result without unnecessary discomfort.

Aftercare: the first 24 to 48 hours

After a Hollywood wax, the follicles are temporarily open and the skin needs time to settle. Keep the area clean, cool and dry, and avoid anything that creates heat, friction or irritation.

• Avoid gym sessions, swimming, steam, sauna and sunbeds for 24 to 48 hours.
• Avoid tight clothing while the skin settles.
• Keep the area clean, cool and dry.

• Do not shave between waxing appointments.
• Start gentle exfoliation from day two or three if the skin is calm.
• Moisturise regularly to help reduce dryness and ingrown hairs.

Never shave between waxes. Shaving resets the growth cycle, can make regrowth feel sharper and may increase the chance of ingrown hairs. For best results, rebook every 3 to 4 weeks. Most guests enjoy around 3 to 4 weeks of smoothness, and regular waxing often makes regrowth finer over time.

Periods, pregnancy and timing

You can wax during your period, although sensitivity may be higher. For intimate waxing, please wear a fresh tampon or menstrual cup. If you prefer not to wax during your period, rearrange with at least 48 hours’ notice to avoid late cancellation fees.

Waxing can usually be carried out during pregnancy. Please tell us when booking, especially in the third trimester, so we can allow extra time and position you comfortably on our electric treatment beds.

Who can have a Hollywood wax?

Queen B welcomes guests aged 18 and over for intimate waxing. Please disclose any use of topical retinoids, oral isotretinoin, recent peels, recent laser treatments, active irritation, infection or relevant medication before your appointment.
